The Best Restaurants in Skopelos Town
Skopelos Town has one of the most quietly excellent dining scenes in the Sporades. This is our local shortlist — the tavernas, ouzeria and contemporary kitchens worth planning an evening around.
Contemporary Greek: Minnŏ Restaurant
Inside Minnǒ Boutique Hotel & Spa, chef Dimitris Charitidis serves refined seasonal Greek cooking on a terrace looking over Skopelos harbour. Signatures include lobster with baby gem and graviera cream, fish stifado, and a quartet of horiatiki with handmade olive bread. Open for lunch and dinner, May through October — reservations recommended.
Classic harbour tavernas
The waterfront tavernas are the island's most photographed tables for good reason: cold house white, grilled octopus, whole fresh fish and a slow view of the boats. Best at sunset. Go early, or book — the front rows fill by 20:30 in August.
Backstreet ouzeria and kafenia
Step a lane or two back from the port and you'll find tiny rooms serving whatever the cook felt like making that day — the best plates in town are often here. Ask for the Skopelitiki tyropita (the spiral cheese pie), wild greens, and a small carafe of tsipouro.
Seafood specialists
A handful of kitchens focus on what came in that morning: sea bream, red mullet, calamari, langoustines. See our Skopelos seafood guide for what to look for and how to order it.
How to choose
- For a special evening: contemporary Greek, on a terrace, with a proper wine list — Minnŏ.
- For atmosphere: a harbour taverna at sunset.
- For the real island food: a backstreet ouzeri.
- For fish: whichever kitchen the local boats delivered to that morning.
